معبر باب الهوى الحدودي: The Main Road Between Europe and the Middle East
Bab Al-Hawa crossing is the lifeline of road transport between Europe, Syria, Jordan, and the Arabian Gulf. It is ranked number one for the movement of transit of goods and passengers in terms of geographical area. The crossing is located 33 km away from the city of Idlib and administratively belongs to the province of Idlib in northern Syria. It is the largest Syrian gate with Turkey, offset by "uncouth Gozo" of the Turkish state of Hatay crossing.
Historically, Bab Al-Hawa crossing is located on the old Roman road "Silk Road" between Antioch and Aleppo and is considered the main route of pilgrimage. It is an independent civilian administration that manages the movement of transit passengers and relief materials and trade to and from Turkey. The administration has a corporate entity composed of specialized scientific competencies and institutional work-based scientific basis in their work. Bab Al-Hawa crossing is composed of main sections, including the Immigration and Passport Department, Customs Secretariat, Police Headquarters, and Department of Technical Supervision, in addition to several other offices.
